“Waste not, Want not”

The 5 most important things not to Waste in the salon:

1~ Time is a Thing.
You want to be careful and conscious for both you and your guests. Be clear during

consultation about steps, cost and time. Think clearly and definitively in order to complete a service effectively and timely. Your time is money… Set your value!

2~ Product Usage.
When mixing color for a guest, make sure to always measure. Consider the size of the head and how much product you will actually need. You can always go back and mix more. Next, be sure to recycle color boxes. At the sink, assistants using shampoo and conditioner, or any treatments, should consider starting with less and adding as needed.

3~ Energy is Contagious.
When gossip is happening, and you are listening, you are immediately involved. Spend your energy wisely. There is always a guest to share a smile with, and a space that needs attention… Money making attention.

4~ Opportunities to Invest Your Skills.
Use your down time to color swatches or create your vision on a mannequin. Shadowing a coworker can also inspire ideas, or using social media to gain creativity. Networking is priceless. Opportunity knocks all day, answer the door!

5~ Creativity is not Self Explanatory.
Not all of us understand our version of creativity and how to express it. The most important thing I can share about this is, if you have an idea write it down, then try it. Then, try it again. Take a photo and share it with someone whose opinion you value. Then, try It again, the idea is to never settle for just OK!

Wasting valuable career changing moments cannot be brought back. “Waste not want not” is the holy grail of success.

Make a choice, stick to it, and remember always be professional.
