If you find yourself having moments of reflection during this extraordinary time, be grateful. I believe this is the beauty of the brain’s due process.
Our instincts are another being all together. Sometimes we listen, sometimes we rebel. Most often we listen consciously, yet not honestly to ourselves and therefore don’t act with our true intent. With so much downtime I have noticed that the brain has a chance to go to these more hidden places. We are not so clouded by the influences of the things around us and the people we feel we need to please.
On the flip side, as hairdressers this is the fiber of what we do. Pleasing people. For me, this extraordinary time is somehow naturally helping me work out my extraordinary change. This is for me, no one else. It’s a gift that has been given to me by simply being human. Now I want to gift it to myself.
As a constant seeker, I am always navigating through some form of change. Dreaming of it, considering it, worrying about it, or making it happen. One of the most challenging things to practice and allow myself to be open to change, is judgement of how much change I have made. Also, how much time it takes me to make it, or who else it will affect.
To be extraordinary, by definition is to be “very unusual or remarkable”. You define this. No-one else. You will certainly be comparing yourself to people you look up to or see as extraordinary. The beauty of this for me is that you never know if you are the example for someone else.
During this extraordinary time, we must also be extraordinary. Many form are available so just take one.
I’d like to open up the discussion further. Is it worth paying attention to? Are things just fine the way they are? Small attempts have been made before, so in what way’s must we think about this differently?
Does this apply to your professional career? Family dynamics? World issues? Carbon Footprint? Tell me! Let’s start the conversation.
