How to go from Check in to Check out and ensure your guests had a blast?
From the moment your guests walk through the salon to the moment they check out, you have a responsibility to be “checked in” to their experience.
During the summer it can be tough to do this consistently. The salon gets slower, less clients, more Snap-Tweets, Insta-Booking, and Gossip-Crushing. These things fill our time. If they aren’t we are looking to book out of there early and leave everyone in the dust.
I want to call this out because the guests that are showing us some love deserve our best. Wouldn’t you agree? They are paying for your service and acknowledgment. Trust me, they can feel the energy of any staff who just flat out would rather be somewhere else.
I encourage all Salon Team Members to be concious, participate and smile at everyone you see. You never know who’s watching and where there is a potential guest for you. Have pride in your contribution to the energy and smooth runnings of the salon and be present and pleasant.
Here are my Top 5 productive ”Im Boared” work projects;
- Clean– brushes (anyones), hair off tray wheels, tops of trays, buildup on product, cob-webs, bowls & brushes
- Restock– products on shelves (color room), organize open color, thow away old open tubes, update order, rearrange an area to make look fresh
- Play time– Color, cut, or style a mannequin/coworker (if allowed) and be sure to compelete “Social Media Worthy” photo
- Swatches– make colors out of open tubes to expand creativity and while processing offer to do shampoos for anyone who needs it
- Give thanks-Write thank you notes to new Guests. (within a week of visit)
I invite you to share which way you chose to be productive in your down time. Choose your path and remember, “Always be Professional”!
